What's The F10 M5 Like To Live With Real-world ?
Discussion
I currently drive an M135i as my daily driver which I absolutely love but I have recently become eligible for the BMW dealer staff leasing scheme through a relative.
Based on the recent offers in the scheme my sensible head would say go for something like a 435d M Sport which is still very fast and reasonably frugal (but it's a diesel!)
The other option is to say "what the hell" and go for an M5, it's only for 18 months, then get back into something a little more sensible. I've owned several M3's in the past but never an M5 and am very tempted to scratch that itch.
I do about 13k miles a year in my daily driver and average 31 MPG in the M135i so I was wondering what real-world MPG people see in their M5s ? It will obviously be worse than the M135i but not sure by how much.
I'd also be interested to know what service intervals people have seen as I wouldn't have the service pack in the deal and it would be good if I could squeeze the 18 month lease into just the 1200 mile oil change and not pay for the next service before I hand it back.
Any other advice people have to help with my decision would be appreciated.

Thanks guys for all your feedback, it's been very informative and definitely food for thought.
I understand why some of you are wondering why I am considering such a car when I am concerned about the running costs. I already have a not cheap to run car, an Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster, but with the current opportunity to get an M5 at a very "reasonable" cost, the temptation is hard to resist but I need to go into this with my eyes open.
Nothing that has been said has scared me off but the challenge I have is to actually test drive one. I've phoned four local dealerships and not one has a demo or even a used one I can try.
I'll update this thread once I've made my decision. Thanks again......
