The 2 year lease on my C63 AMG coupe is about to end, one option is to buy it for £35k, or I could use the opportunity to lease or PCP something else. It seems I can get an M4 for £630pm plus £3,780 deposit over 36 months or an M5 for £669pm plus £4,014. Any thoughts? I do 10k pa mixed driving and rarely need back seats...

Thanks, I have to say I loved the M6 when I test drove one, but can't justify the extra cost. I was left a little flat by the M4, the noise was what really put me off - a weird flatulent noise, although I gather they sound much better with a sports exhaust. Fast approaching decision time, I am a bit of a tart so having everyone think I'm in a 520D doesn't really appeal, I think I need to test drive an M5 and see if it can persuade me out of the current C63. I do also like the look of the new C63 coupe but not due until March 2016...

In saying that it is very colour dependant, A Sakhir orange M5 would not blend in!
That's a good point, the M6 I test drove was a beautiful blue - I think San Marino, with white interior, but I'm not sure it's available on the M5

TBH a c63 looks no different to a C220 to the untrained eye just like an M5 looks no different to an M sport 520d.

Yes, that's fair. My C63 is a very subtle dark blue, but it is amazing how many clients spot the 6.3 badge on the wing - even if they miss the four exhausts...

Op is the price for the M4 including lots of extras?
No, I don't think so, this is the quote I was given by Vardy - and it seemed competitive compared to others I'd found. Do you know of any better deals?

I'm really struggling to reach a decision and may well end up buying the C63 as some have suggested, at least for the short term - it is a bloody good car, sounds awesome, is fast enough for everyday use, has loads of toys and I don't think will depreciate too heavily from here. Shame that lease deals aren't as good now as they were 2 years ago when I got it for £570pm!

Well, just about to go and collect the C63 after its service... decided to extend the lease by another year. Cost has increased from £572pm to £767pm but with no deposit this time. It means I can shunt the decision of what to swap it for a bit further down the line! I'll try and post a pic of it later - alongside my other, even noisier AMG driving

Good decision and I didn't realise you could extend the lease or I might have done the same.

My big issue was that year 3 meant a major service, new brakes and more £500 VED... I test drove the new M3 and had a similar experience coming from the C63 - just where is the soul and character in the M3 / M4???

Yes it's fast, great to look at and nice inside, but I didn't like the exhaust note.

In the end I couldn't work out what to do and got a mega deal on a new 640d Coupe (£22k off list) which I thought was pretty sensible for me.

1 year on (in December) I love the look of the car, the interior and the long effortless drives, but I am bored overall and need back into a fast petrol car.

I've actually gone full circle and considering the M3 again, I want to like the the C63 and drove it last month (epic to drive) but I really don't like the look of it.

I've also considered the M5, but it's due to be replaced pretty soon and the size of the 640d on back roads can be frustrating at times and I think a car M3 / C63 sized is more suitable.

The other problem for me is getting used to all the nice toys like full leather dash etc... oh well... I will be contacting my dealer soon to see if I can get yet another drive in an M3 and go from there.
We seem to have identical views! I also seriously considered a 640d, don't like the look of the C63 saloon and as you'll have seen share your initial views o the M3,4 and 5. The service I've just had on the C63 was £558, brakes should be fine for another year and I'm told the next service is less expensive... I may upgrade to the C63 coupe when it comes out in 2016. The C63 saloon was amazing to drive, I know my local dealership well and they gave me the keys and sent me off to play. Best, fastest and most sideways test drive I've ever had smile In the real world it is faster than my SLS, shame about the droopy bottom!

Only had my M3 a week,(Xdemo huge spec huge saving)thought about M4 BUT stood next to each other only one of them looks the part IMHO. I must be in the minority here boxedin as I actually like the exhaust note (with flaps open) Its as quick as my M5 upto 80, far quicker when pushing on on B roads, HK stereo sounds as good to me as the B&O did in the M5 and it returns 30mpg on the Motorway.... Only a week and 500 miles in but so far and really cant fault the car.
Well, I think you have a very good looking car - I to prefer the look of the M3 over the M4, albeit lease prices were higher for the M3. Apparently they sound far better with the sports exhaust, does yours have one fitted? Either way, glad you like it, the sound of the one I drove was a major disappointment having had and M3 E46, the C63 and competing in various E36 engined rally cars - all of which sounded far better to my ears!
