Got an M4 and considering changing the exhaust to the BMW Performance one after hearing an M3 in the local showroom that had one.
Anyone had one fitted, was it worth it?

cheers

Isn't the valve mod just keeping the valves open like it does on the 'Sports Plus' mode? or does it do something different?

not quite. in sport and sport plus mode yes the flaps open but not all the time. they are closed on deceleration below a certain rev figure. i think 2500/3000 ish also when you are off the gas the close at low idle revs sometimes, seems a bit hit and miss, ive never quite worked out whats going on back there. with the valve mod or controller add on and permanently open flaps the difference you get is much more burble from the exhaust on deceleration and its loud all the time.
also if you give it some gas and let off at low speeds with open flaps you get an almighty pop/bang from the exhaust (on MPE you do anyway - probably the same but quieter on OEM exhaust). its an addictive sound and i spend a lot of my time making it bang as it puts a smile on your face over and over again.
I installed MPE on delivery so have not owned the car with standard exhaust. its sitting in my garage unused ready for re installation when i sell the car. and hopefully sell the MPE on second hand and reclaim some of the initial outlay for it.
explains it perfectly. Cheers Jimbooo.
Yes I love the pops from the exhaust when you come off the gas quickly - put they do seem to be adhoc when they happen which is a same.

On my old 911 I took a fuse out (well not me, someone who actually knew what they were doing) and this had the result of opening the flaps permanently. System on the M4 sounds similar so would the same fuse trick work??
There is a vid on youtube of some american warming the car up so the flaps open then just pulling the plug out of the exhaust so they stay open

Just ordered the CG controller, i watched the you tube video and it works but leaves you with the issue if you want to close them, back under the car and reconnect, the valve switch will give you both options at the press of a button.
Where is the best place to order one from?

thats where i ordered mine from. took about a week to find its way from arizona to Hertfordshire. they send by UPS, tax was about £36 which you pay to ups on the day of delivery over the phone. or give the driver a cheque.

im very happy with it, had it fitted by a local garage for £20. took them about 15 mins, Very easy to install but you need to get the car on a ramp to access the bits properly.

i went for default mode: open flaps, activated mode: OEM operation.

so when i turn the car on the flaps are always open in all settings. then press the remote and the car returns to OEM mode. You can get it programmed to close them permanently but i dont like the sound of that as i worry about the back pressure if they are closed and im booting it.
pulled the trigger on these and looking forward to the increased sound
