Thanks for the kind words guys, not going to remap it as these cars now communicate with Munich, so warantee could be voided, but as you say, it's as quick everyday driving as the M3 in most situations with good economy too.

John, why did you change from the M3?
I am going to be doing a lot more miles to and from London, so I got offered a great price for the M3 before the miles went on so took it.
TBH I got near new money back for it and the way the prices are falling away glad I got shot when i did.
You can buy the M3/4 now for £50K loaded, I got £49.5K for mine with 6K+ miles after 9 months, good deal no?.

Quite!

But, to try and bring it in, how does the 435d GC compare with the M6 GC that you had previously, for what you might call 'real world' driving?
It's quick and quiet, tyre noise low and the HK Sound system has been improved in some way, sound great.
The car has great torque/power up too 100MPH all I need really TBH.
Close to the M3 too 80 MPH but quicker off the line with XDrive.
Should be as quick in the wet all round on UK roads IMO.
Does lack the sound and suspension though.
I have adaptive suspension but it's NO "M".
I like it for what it is "an all rounder for a guy my age".
PS) and 40 MPG+ .

But your original comment said "as quick or quicker in most situations" which implies a 435d would generally have the better of an M3; can perhaps see that in very wet or greasy conditions but otherwise doesn't seem likely to me. However, I haven't driven either an F80 M3 or a 435d so once he's got a few miles on his new machine perhaps the OP can let us know the answer?!
I will come back with an "opinion"
on the two. The 435D MS G C Xdrive is quick but not M3 quick, in everyday driving it's all you would ever really need, and with PLOD hiding up ever lay-by who needs 100+ MPH?.
The Diesel is very quick too 80 MPH and in the damp gets away quicker than most cars "M" included.

The tyre roar from the M3 on many roads borders on intolerable , the 435 is quieter by a long way making longer journeys more enjoyable for me anyway.

Diesels do lure you in I agree and their 0 to 60 times always look good but when you look at the 0 to 100 times they are never that impressive, they do seem to give you that feeling that they are quick though.
This thing flys too 80/90 MPH, no "M" but very quick.
On UK roads it's all you need power wise for me now anyway.

Congrats on the car, looks really nice!

A friend of mine also bought one of these recently in the colour combo black/champagne.
What impressed me the most from a passenger perspective and from behind the wheel was how superb the ride was!
We have a few cobbled roads around here and I was amazed at how it dealt with all the potholes etc.

Great daily driver, smooth auto and refined as well as the capacity to go quick and return good mpg. Only thing and this is imho it lacks any sense of occasion.

just to add from another poster, is this an M car now as its in this section? lol
Not an "M" car but I have been on here with most of my "M" cars 5 in all.
So thought it would be OK to post this "change of vehicle" and why on here.
I have found were i am that "M" Cars really can't be taxed or even put through their paces above 3rd gear even 3rd in Lenience loosing, so in my older age I though this Derv burner would do.

You obviously have good taste, I've had 5 M cars too biggrin

I think the 435D is more than capable of helping one lose their licence, no?
Yea your right but for everyday use a lot more "under the radar".;)
