Hi all, got my first mx sept last year, it is a 1991 limited edition no: 106 of 250. 15 inch bbs wheels brg paint tan leather wood wheel and gearknob etc plus elec windows and pas. it was originally only 1 of 25 allocated for special overseas tax free sales and owned by a guy in the army stationed in germany. he brought it back to Northern ireland in 96 and it was registered as a uk. it is uk spec. i was wondering does anyone else know of another of these specials that still exist and does anyone have any more info?
I have already seen the article on Bournes mazda webpage but the site how many left.co.uk does not feature this model.
It is in fairly good nick but does require some floor weldng to pass M.o.t. Today 27/6/11 other than that it's great. since had it i have upgraded headlamps fitted strut brace, replace gear gaitor, ht leads, refurbed wheels which now look amazing, replaced o/s central locking actuator, new pads front , discs pads and calipers rear, next is to repair drivers seat bolster has small hole but not major and rest is remarkably good, In 08 think then owner had break-in so a new hood with heated rear glass screen was fitted and i also have a load of receipts for stuff over last 20 years. I have original leather wallet with ltd edition brass plate and certificate of authenticity.

Thanks for your post about it, the wheels altough not too bad as the pic suggests were in quite a bad state! Have had them fully chrome powder coated now, not entirely keeping original but def look good now, my car will never achieve mint status- at least not with my meagre budget! I will soon post some fresh pics with the wheels as they are now.

It does have remote central locking, retro fit with a cat 1 alarm by a previous owner.
Had to change the drivers side actuator last year as it failed but was a 20 min job.
Yours in good shape?

If you look at the 1st reponse on this thread i had there is a link to the model.
Don't think it had central locking as standard. Mine's sorned for winter now, i have removed the cam cover and inlet manifold to clean and respray body coloured. I also added style roll hoops earlier this year.
Will never see the money back but me and my dad don't mind. Yours still on original wheels? Mileage?

49k!! i wish, yours must be near mint. 124k mine's on. A girl owned it previously for 7 years and put 15k a year on it as her daily. She emigrated to austrailia and wanted to take the car with her but the cost was prohibitive!

Looks great, mine has same hoops as yours. Your wheels look good, mine were shot and tried to get a proper refurb but the cowboy powdercoated them. I dont like it. i lost out on bidding for another set earlier this year.

I will def get you pics of my refreshed engine bay. I didn't want the chrome either. So far including yours and others i've heard of there's at least 9 still on the roads of the 250.

Looks better a bit lower, its on my list to do! Seats are out to go to Jack Smith's Trimmers in Swansea for
re-trim. They are generally good but drivers bolster gone and 21 years of use have left them less than perfect. I'm gonna give carpets a good steam clean whilst seats are out too. It's a labour of love and i hope next year will give better weather to enjoy it!!

Yours a plastic screen? Previous owner of mine had new hood done in 08 with glass screen heated, think it must have been vandalised as the paperwork says it was done through insurance! They'd billed her insurance a grand to do it!

Same as you i'm Guessing, it folds neatly without having to do anything special,
Yours has probably been garaged all it's life and with low mileage it should be fine but a tip for you. The wing mirror bolts tend to rust through where water gets trapped so if you try to adjust them or fold them in they tend to snap off in your hand. Replacement bolts are cheap enough but to replace them is a faff, glass out job! If you can, spray some lubricant into the joint. I learned the hard way! lol.

The mirror glass yes, It's held in with the black one piece surround that you have to carefully prize off. Not fun.

Hi, mine's all undone and ready to lift out to be sprayed but i'm not sure if i will do mine body coloured or silver then lacquered for a high shine, going to do inlet manifold too. Need to buy new gaskets ready for the refit though.
Your induction? did you do yourself or was it on when you had car? Don't they need fettling to fit? What is needed?
Also ltd012, nice to hear another is still alive and with miniscule mileage too. Pics would be good?
The wheels IMO are a pain to get done, depending on severity of corrosion they'll cost a bit per wheel. Mine are now chrome powdercoated, do not do this! i regret it and i think the refurb place i took them to tucked me up a bit by claiming that they had tried extensively to refurb them as they should've bben out of factory but in all honestly i think they just wanted an easier/quicker/cheaper alternative. Still cost me £100 a corner but i don't like them now. I missed out on a corroded yet original spare set on ebay last year. Wish i'd bid higher!!

I was lucky and got a set of standard mx5 14'' wheels with good tyres for £50. great for when a refurb is in order or over winter to avoid salt or flat spots on tyres if parked up. Yours looks good
