Just testing the water on this one, i'm far from certain this is a good idea!

i have a Mk1 MX-5, its a Uk 1800 which for the past 4 years i have done approx. 5000 miles and 2-3 track days a year.

Its a really good car, that i have always driven to track days, had a blast and driven back. In trackday mode, it has a sparco sprint seat, TR Lane roll bar & Harness bar, Sparco 5 point harness and 15 inch AD08's all around. The suspension is standard and its not a stripped out racer, its all 100% standard inside.

The issue is, i am about to buy a new house and although i do not need to sell the 5 to fund the purchase, i really cannot justify running it on the road as it is a 4th Car. I also cannot store it off the road to SORN it.

What i need is 2 other like minded souls in the Herts/ Beds/ Essex area. preferably people over 30 years old, sorry but i am 40 this year...

I supply the car, somebody has the ability to store it (garaged or in a barn), somebody has the ability to transport it (car + trailer). We meet 2-3 time a year and share the running costs for the track day. Try it for a year and see where we end up.
Ideally, somebody who has had experience with 5's in the past so we can resolve any faults, and if you are handy with a MIG welder, even better!

If its crashed by anybody, look if we can EBAY mend it with a few old panels then thats fine but if not i dont mind taking all the bits off it and scrapping it, but really im looking for people who want this to work for a few years and not just trash it day 1 so will take a little bit of care, but saying that i've let plenty of people drive the 5 over the years on track and its always come back in one peice...

Im not sure if anybody has experience of this working in the past or is this whole idea just lanacy with people you don't know?

any thoughts? Like i say i'm far from convinced this is a good idea...

Set up a business, where the running costs are offset against the sales, which is 'rental' which includes a set number of laps at a track day. Trailer the car to 'events' and do the repairs yourself.

I say this because getting 4 mates to agree on anything is impossible, and even worse would be random people like me off the internet.

I actually discussed with my accountant, the purchase of an MX5 and trailer, via my Ltd company (that does engineering contracting/consultancy), justified as a 'marketing cost' and including some self-designed and commissioned performance parts, so justified as 'testing'.

The only thing stopping me is procrastination, and lack of time.
Yes, this is a good idea but hoping to keep things a bit more smile than that. I think I'm trying to get lucky with finding the right people but might be difficult through the internet....let's see if there is any interest and go from there.
