Afternoon all

After much research I have recently purchased a Mazda mx5 mk3 2.0 sport. 7 years old with 12,000 miles. Just wanted to know if there is anything I should be watching out for with regards to servicing and MOT. Also what mpg are people getting, mine seems to be getting about 27 atm, but I am in the honeymoon process of short trips to show it off and revving the nuts off it when the opportunity arises.

Any information would be great.

Cheers.

Thanks for the information chaps, seems I am amongst like minded people here. The MX5 currently has bridgestone potenzas. It is due an MOT and Service and TAX (eeeek) next month so while it is in the Mazda garage I will ask them to do the tracking and check for rust. I am assuming a service will also top up all the necessary oils etc. The box is notchy going into first from cold but I have heard this is a problem with all 2.0 sports. I have found it is quite easy to get the TC light flashing, and it hasn't even been we yet !! Has anyone ever timed the 0-60 of their car, or done a top speed run, ive not gone past 90 yet, too scared of plod !!!

Evening chaps, wow a real wealth of knowledge on here.

So it would seem having the top down makes a difference to aerodynamic efficiency, hence the difference in top speed. From there I can also assume that it would improve your mpg with the roof up, not that I will put the roof up to improve from 30-32 mpg mind, having it down is far too much fun. In the morning I have been driving to work with the roof folded when it is wet from last night's dew/rain, is this a problem? Aside from this so far I have gotten 160 miles from half a tank with very mixed driving which ain't too bad IMO. Other than that I have not checked the drainage holes (don't know where they are) but everything is dry inside to it's all good. Booked in for 6th annual service now, paid for wheel alignment to be done also.

Cheers, Lew.
