I'm looking at buying a mk1 - I've found one I like the look of and I want to view it this weekend. I've done a bit of reading and am aware of the issues regarding rotten sills/arches/etc. The car I've seen has front and rear mudflaps. It's a 1995 1.8 S. Can anyone tell me if these were standard fit, or whether they may be an aftermarket/garage attempt to hide problems? Advice?

They look similar to http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/attachments/...

Thankss

Went to view it on Saturday. Rear arches were rotten, rear fog light didn't work, some bright spark had sealed the drainage points in with Waxoyl, and the engine didn't turn over.

And I was worried about the mudflaps...
