Do you think a Mazda MX-5 NC is girly?

I've owned 2 mk1 MX5s and consider myself a 'fan' of them.
Most people do regard them as 'girly' or 'hairdressers cars' (as evidenced by many comments here!).
The question is: does that bother you? The fact you've started a thread to ask that question suggests that you do, so perhaps best to avoid? If your going to roll around with the top down feeling self-conscious then you defeat the purpose of the car.
NC never interested me much, I'd have a smart mk2 before one of these. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with them but they lack the purity *groan* of the earlier generations. The pride Mazda have in the new one being lighter than the previous model tells a story.
Current NC prices are tempting. Avoid the folding metal roof, its just not a real MX5 with all that extra practicality.
As stated, NCs are very colour-sensitive, grey is best for minimizing girliness. I like tan leather in an MX5, big po*fter that I am.
Dark grey, sensibly lowered stance, tasteful lightweight aftermarket/ upgrade wheels, quality sports exhaust, job done.
I was personally thinking about black. That seems to be a pretty good colour for th NC. Main reason being is that you can't see the "mouth" (the happy grill) as good. Also 17" rims and a few cms of lowering will be nice as you said. Most people do regard them as 'girly' or 'hairdressers cars' (as evidenced by many comments here!).

I think because it's a small inoffensive 2 seater and not a big SUV or saloon it looks quite dainty and fragile to other people on the road.
I don't think they look girly, most of them I see are driven by blokes, and it's not really a posers car either, it's purely just about having fun while driving and it does that very well.
Here's mine:
That's an amazing looking car! I live the color/wheel combo. I don't think they look girly, most of them I see are driven by blokes, and it's not really a posers car either, it's purely just about having fun while driving and it does that very well.

I live 20 mins from the Brecon Beacons, and at 7am on a summers morning, roof down zipping along the twisties, I don't worry if I look odd in my ''girly''car.
I use it every day, although I also have a Land Cruiser,my very petit wife prefers the LC.
But in the summer it's nice for an evening drive for the both of us, and neither of us are hair dressers.
That sounds like a lot of fun! That's the reason I want one. Just driving around in the summer with the top down. I use it every day, although I also have a Land Cruiser,my very petit wife prefers the LC.

I have a mk2 18i Sport,factory spoilers, air con,all leather, hard top,LSD,only 2 owners, garaged for ever,we were lucky.
I paid 1300 for it, its the best value / most enjoyment car I have ever had.
By the way, I'm 6 foot, portly, bald, over 50 and don't give a st what other people could think.
Although to be fair, I drive it most days, and have never had anyone so much as look, hint, or any way offer any thoughts of whether I look daft or girly.
Some guys just don't need a manly car to feel/look manly. I paid 1300 for it, its the best value / most enjoyment car I have ever had.

It seems some do though...
