I have a 2001 MX5 mk2 1.6, with rust issues. The mot is due soon, I got it quickly checked over by the testers, who say that it will fail due to excessive rust. Last year's report is below:

Nearside Front Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)
Offside Front Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)
Front Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened (2.4.G.1)
Rear Sub-frame corroded but not seriously weakened

The garage (just a regular MOT place) welded up one sill last year to pass, but they can't give me a quote because the front needs stripping to look at it. I assume this is a dump it and move on job? The car has all the usual MX5 rust on the arches etc and the ABS light will not go off. It's a gem for sure smile
