looking at buying a 92 eunos 1.6,

there are some bad points- its red and the paint has faded, few dinks and scratches, small area of rust bubbling (20p size) around one rear arch and a patch of rust on driver door sill. Engine sounds a little tappety, but I understand changing the oil will help here (engine oil was quite dark in colour). No service history. Its done just under 90k miles which isnt too bad.

price reflects the above, but would you stay clear? Looking to use it as weekend car and for a few trackdays.

now seen a 96 1.8 mk1 with 100k on the clock. its a ltd edition uk car with leather seats if that makes any difference price wise.

Overall the car seems in good condition and also has a reasoanbly extensive main dealer service history (every 2-3 years mostly, but probabaly in line with mileage intervals). However, the sills have gone and its got the £40 quick cut and weld fix rather than the full seamless repair.

its up for £1900. Does that seems a fair price?? Sills might provide a bargaining point and i have read that some people dont mind buying with the bad sills because if they havent gone already, they soon will!

advice greatly appreciated

i just cant get a handle on prices, they seem to be all over the place!

seen a couple of early 90's cars for low 2ks, a 96 1.8 with 180k miles for 1.8k and similar cars that seem mint seem to be pushing 2.4k.

Its for a weekend car plus bit of trackday use, so think i will wait to find a mk1 with 80-100k miles and strong mechanicals for £1400-1500. Anybody got one of these for sale??

Took the advice and checked the free ads. found a 92 1.6 eunos for £1300.

got there (100 miles away) and the bodywork was not in 'good condition' as descibed- issues with laquer on 3 wings. Was disappointed given distance i travelled but it had only done 82k, had a 4 month old hood, roll bar (looking to do track days), mot till july, new brake calipers and discs in 2007, and no rust except 2 tiny stone chips on rear arch and a bit of rust on drain channel around boot lid. Sills solid. Drove it away for £950.

Made it back home with no issues. Engine is a bit tappety but this cleared on the long run so i hope some full synthetic oil will cure it. Overall it seems sound and will hopefully prove to be a bit of a bargain.
