What do people think of citizen watches?
Discussion
Thinking of getting a new watch as a special occation watch (cant afford 1000s of £ so more £300 ish)
Just wondering that you think of citizen watches?
This is the one im thinking of getting:

or

both effectively the same.
Just look a bit different.

I have 4 Citizen eco drives in my collection, very happy with all of them. I paid between £50 and £90 for mine though, not £279, I'd be looking else where with a budget like that. Creation have 60 eco drives, have a look there http://www.creationwatches.com/products/citizen-ec... or Argos always have a good range, currently have this one half price at £99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9...
I had one of these, but with black PVD coating and on a bracelet:

5 years ago I paid a consultant to review my business and my own performance in sales, and one of the suggestions which he made was 'loose the Rolex as some clients may object - wear a Seiko or similar '
I actually went out and bought a Citizen Eco Drive AV0031-59E which I have worn every working day since.
The watch has peformed faultlessly keeping excellent time and is completely bulletproof.
From a quality point of view the watch is engineered and built like something way more expensive and the bracelet is up there with the best and is constructed way better than that on my Rolex, and is the equal of some of the nicely engineered Omega bracelets.
The only inevitable downside of all that heavy duty engineering is that it does weigh quite a bit but again this all adds to the feeling of quality well above its price.
Paid about £300 for mine and its the best £300 I have ever spent.

I also bought this a short while ago, and have been very, very pleased with it:

I have one of these:
Have had it for 10 years, and I'm wearing it as I type.
It's excellent. Very well built, bombproof, and never misses a beat. It's the one I throw on if I can't be bothered to wind up an auto, and it's also the one I use to set the time on all the others.
An absolute bargain for the technology employed, in my opinion.

I have the same watch but smashed the glass - I paid £90 for Citizen to fix it but promptly broke it again 2 months later.I actually went out and bought a Citizen Eco Drive AV0031-59E which I have worn every working day since.

As I have never broken the glass in a watch before I cant help but think this is some kind of design defect and I cant bring myself to spend another £90 to get it fixed. Pity as it is a superb watch other than that.
