Just put a deposit on a mid size brand new Rolex for the Mrs.

RRP in Goldsmiths - £9150 and told absolutely no discount available as it's a steel watch

From Watches of Switzerland in Heathrow - £7625

Luckily they had the one she wanted on stock as you can't order then in, they get what they are given, however they will reserve a watch for you with a 10% deposit. I'm not flying next until the end of June so will collect it then.

Apparently there is a Rolex price increase due in the next month as well, but we are locked into the lower price which is a bonus as well.

Two bits of information that oft prove wrong.

AD's regularly warn of a price increase next month to increase sales. They only find out a few days prior. Loads and loads of people have complained that when they pick up a watch that's been oredered or reserved just before a price increase, they are charged based on the higher price.

Hope you don't get hit.
Interesting - I can understand them using this as a sales tool, however it would be wrong to then charge someone a higher price having already put a desposit down.

Given the watch is being bought from Mappin & Webb / Watches of Switzerland I would like to think they would stick to their word and keep the current agreed price that is set out on the sales receipt.

We'll see! If they don't then it's a tough one as the watch is still 17% cheaper than (current) High St RRP pricing and I guess that price difference will remain that way due to the lack of VAT.
