Can't find much about this anywhere,

which one is better, Seiko Solar or Citizen Eco-Drive?

not in terms of looks, but movement, quality etc

Hard to tell.

I believe the Seiko one is relatively new, so might not have the proven reliability of the Citizen system, but all the specs suggest they're essentially the same under the skin.

Aside from the solar charging, they're all just quartz watches, so there's little to choose between them.

I've a couple of Eco-Drives and they're very good (A colleague of mine swears by them and won't wear anything else).

cheers bud.

already have a kinetic, so wanted a different brand to start building the collection, the choice is between:

holy thread resurrection!

well since the initial post I haven't had a seiko solar, but have had a seiko kinetic and a citizen ecodrive.

Seiko Kinetic is more noisy, the recharge mechanism can be heard when you shake your wrist (no giggling at the back!)
Citizen eco-drive completely doesn't charge in winter when you have long shirt sleeves on in the day and jumpers in the evening. Had to charge it next to a lamp each evening to keep it going.

Citizen quality seems a little better, but for some reason I just prefer the Seiko. Good job really as I lost the Citizen out in the States somewhere...
