I was wondering if anybody would be happy to pick me up a watch from the duty free lounge at DXB on thier way back to the UK?
Does everybody / anybody pay duty on a new Rolex theyve bought in a duty free departures lounge? Never been asked to pay fees when bringing a duty free purchase home.

If you really do stand a chance of being stung for import duty on a Rolex or other expensive item which can be bought in the duty free / international departure lounge then why do they bother selling them? Surely you'd just be given the item in one of the airport plastic bags, with a reciept a proof, and then it'd just be carried through as hand luggage. If at the other end i got asked for taxes or charges i'd be questioning what the point was of having such outlets at the airport in the first place. I can understand paying fees if youve bought the item in town for a bargain and were bringing it through the airport check in etc, but not if youre buying from the departure lounge. No point buying otherwise. Loads of you have bought at LHR etc, did you worry about being stung for duties then?
