Had my AT for what must be 8 or 9 years now. Maybe more...

(Steel bracelet, white face, blue hands and markings exactly like this one: http://bit.ly/18VsDBL)

I'd like to get a rubber strap for it.

Exactly like this one.

Is this possible? How do I go about doing it?

Assuming your strap is 20mm and not 22mm, then there's one on eBay for £245, unused inc clasp.
There's a strap only alternative for £145, and you can buy 18mm clone clasps for £20-25.
There's other non-OEM blue rubbers straps and clone clasp for £40 ish, from the US – so a bit of delay on receiving it.

Try watch obsession.co.uk and see if Gary has anything suitable from Hirsch.
How would I know if it is 20mm?

I mean I have measured it and I am 90% sure it is 20mm but with such small tolerance it could easily be 22mm if I am measuring from the wrong point?

Will the PO type straps definitely fit an AT or is that just something for the Omega shop to advise on?

Nice watch.

I am not overly concerned about cost.

Giving my watch a freshen up will be cheaper than me going out and buying a used PO - which I always get very close to doing!
