Was hoping to save up to buy myself a second hand Speedmaster for Christmas BUT after taking into consideration the fact that SWMBA bought me a rather lovely Seamaster chrono as a wedding present (and that she's married to me - poor thing) thought I'd return the favour and buy her a new watch for our first wedding anniversary.

Have a limit of £1500 and though I well appreciate I could get more watch by going the second hand route, as it is our first anniversary, only seems fair to purchase new. Not overly concerned as to whether it's quartz or automatic, but the horologist in me would prefer an auto if possible.

So far have identified a black faced Seamaster with the 28mm face as a possible candidate but would welcome contributions from others more knowledgeable than I.

Many thanks.

Thanks for your replies fellas - very much appreciated. Have had a look on fleabay (if only go get an idea of what I can expect to get for £1500) and current favourites are an Omega De-ville and a blue faced Tag Heuer link model (sadly can't provide photos as on my iPad).

Looks like I'm going to have to try and get some overtime in at work.

Mr Hackett does have a lot to answer for already. Regularly have a look on his site and he really does carry some fantastic stock. It's a good point though, but with only £1500 to spend I'd feel like the boy in the school shower room whose just come in from the cold. Lol.

Particularly like the Autavia and Ingenieur. Very nice alternative to that Speedie I've promised myself.......

Two excellent suggestions their - really do appreciate that. Must say Tudor did slip under the radar, but after googling that particular model - with a SS bracelet or the crocodile strap and white face - think I may well have found her next present. You never know, she might return the favour and buy me a Heritage.
