Hi, i have a 2001 seadweller and the bezel has become tight and really tight at a particular point. I managed to loosen it off a bit, but is there anything i can do to improve any further without facing a £500 bill from Rolex.

3 in 1 or maybe leave in the sink over night ( joking)

Funny , I was having a laugh , the dealer was taking the pi ss.
yes, i think he was hoping i would fall for it and trade it in. But saying that i only paid £2400 for it, so a £200 profit on a trade in price isn't that bad.

Indeed I was offered 4K cash for mine or 4300 trade in without any effort or prompting. Wouldn't be taking it but that offer of 2 and a half was little more than an attempt at daylight robbery.
wow 4300 trade, i didn't realise they were worth that much! I may consider upgrading to the new one at that price!

That is an amazingly high trade value ( unless maybe traded against a much higher value item)

Asking price in dealers here in Singapore for a 2nd hand Seadweller is around 3500 -3600 GBP .... Before haggling!

Suggests trade value here is well under 3,000

I should buy up every Seadweller here and bring to the UK hehe

I thought brand new SD4000s were <5500 GBP from a dealer ?? ( they are here...)
16600s are selling for 5.5K as seen here

http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/more_2.htm

Last of the line serials like mine seem to be more popular for some reason.
i originally bought mine from Blowers for £2440 its a 2001 but was unused when i bought it in 2004. Interestingly i was on Blowers looking at prices and i am seriously considering upgrading mine to the new model, or would this be a bad idea? If i could trade mine in plus 2K on interest free i would be interested as i get a new watch and no need to do a service ( as the dealer would do that trade before they sell it on)

Going back to topic, i put the watch in the sink for 30mins and gave a good clean with some soap and soft brush and the bezel is fine.

well i took the watch back into Mappin&Webb and they offered 2300 against the new SD4000. I think they are taking the piss but i also think that an offer of 4K is a bit high.

How come they dropped £300? 2300 is laughable.

Fwiw i took my p serial 16600 to a local jeweller who offered 3300, i put it on Ebay and had an offer of 3500, but not letting it go at that, i'll hang on to it for now.
the last time i got offered 2600 was about 2 years ago, there justification for low price this time was the fact that it had to be sent off to Rolex for a service!
