Viewing a watch that is not in stock?

What is the protocol for viewing a watch that an AD doesn't have in stock, if they order it in are you obligated to buy it?

This is new territory for me, so I didn't want to go asking my local AD for fear of making myself look like a tit.

Interestingly it is a Tudor I want to look at, and I have used the AD for other things in the past and they are very good. I'll pop in for a chat in the week.
