I have always fancied a Suunto watch as a tough outdoors watch that could be worn doing anything. In my mind this is climbing mountains, cutting down great big trees and living on a secluded mountain, in reality it would be more for wearing at the gym, bike rides and ironing, but I will stock with the former. What are the recommendations nowadays? Suunto, G-Shock etc.?

I like the Suunto Core All Black and Suunto Core Ultimate Black. What is the real difference? Anyone have either of these?

Thanks for all the responses so far. I am edging towards a Suunto Core Ultimate Black. I think they only came out last week, but looks a lot cleaner than the old Suunto Core and I prefer it to the G-Shock.

Thanks everyone. Suunto Core Ultimate Black on its way from Germany. £170.00, instead of £250.00 in the UK.

The Suunto has survived everything I have thrown at it , so far (swimming pool, beach, etc.) biggrin

I calibrated the sea level stting at the beach, but the readings are quite erratic at the pool. It seems to say I am -300m and i'm pretty sure I am not.

I think there may be a software/hardware issue with the watch as the Compass doesn't work correctly anymore. It struggles to find South!
