Afternoon gents,

Looking to upgrade my Tag Monaco to a Breguet XXI with the aim to re-upgrade every year or so to eventually land a ROO on the wrist. I was wondering, as this is probably a path well trodden, if there was a resource listing the best watches to buy in order to flip in the medium term available somewhere?

Just put the money aside and keep wearing the Monaco, until you've the funds (with or without its sale) to land a nice pre-owned ROO.
You'll lose more money in the interim doing it as planned, and as much as Rolex is the default answer in that case, it's not as rosy as it has been in recent years – so like I said, save your money for the big one, you might even get there sooner.
Sounds like very pragmatic reasoning, however I might go for a middle of the road route and buy the XXI as I'm really fond of it and save on from there, with maybe one more in-between watch to keep me motivated.

are you suggesting buying and then selling at a profit, as a way of working your way up?
No, more along the lines of selling my monaco, adding ~3K to upgrade to a preowned XXI and repeating periodically until i'm in preowned ROO territory, call it 3 jumps.

the assumption here is that a more expensive watch is a 'better' watch, that's far too subjective to be true
+1. Well put yes
Not at all. I just really love the ROO. If I were after bling I'd have an all Gold Sub instead of it.

P.S. I come from the watch industry (ex. Swatch Group) so I, more than anyone would know that Price ≠ Quality

good advise.....unless you intend to buy pre-owned and try to make a profit from each move up (which is not easy) then save your pennies until you can afford the ROO
Oh, they would have all been pre-owned. My reckoning was that the hit would be €100-€250 on trading up at each stage, which is not bad for the novelty factor.

and where do you get the 100-250 Euro figure from ? or was it printed on the back of a fag packet ? smile......... how many times before have you traded up on watches, it's not that easy ...it would almost certainly involve buying privately which, unless you know what your doing, is a receipe for disaster .....save up for the ROO
I've done it a few times, admittedly I've let go of a watch a lower than intended price in order to buy another that was going at good price. I never really lose money on stuff I buy.. I just hold out until the stars align and the right buyer and seller come along.
