First Watch Advice

Looking at getting my first 'nice' watch. Not really bother about if it's new or second hand, I have around £1000ish to spend, so surely am best going second hand to get the most for my money.?

Is there any recommend site to get some second hand bargains? And is it best staying away from the likes of eBay etc? Also would like to know what I can get for my £1000 secondhand if I look hard enough.
