Daytona decision....
Discussion
Ok, apologies for starting yet another Daytona thread but I have a decision to make.
Looking to trade up my 7 yr old SS Datejust for a SS Daytona (white dial). I'll be wearing the watch on a daily basis.
Its a 50th Birthday prezzy to myself and its probably the last watch I'll ever buy (in other words, don't try to change my mind )
Now the decision... In discussion with a few ADs it would appear that even if I get on someone's waiting list they can't guarantee to have one available in By mid August 2016 (when I 'need' it).
Don't mind paying list but don't want to pay any kind of premium. Sensible suggestions on alternatives to the official AD/waiting list option are welcome, but not really interested in 'go to Dubai, go to Schipol Airport' schemes.
My other option is to buy preowned. The former AD where I bought my last two Rolex watches has a very nice preowned one with the Zenith movement available as a private sale (he'll put a 2 yr warranty on it, its in fine fettle). Its priced a tad below list for a new one and he'll make me an offer on the Datejust. Its a bit soon to make the purchase but will I be kicking myself if I wait a year before buying preowned SS Daytona with the zenith movement (ie are they appreciating significantly?)
Advice from the PH watch watchers much appreciated!

Thanks guys, bit nervous about selling the datejust privately (too many horror stories for me, although tz seems better than most).
Don't get down to London that often but based on what I've seen on here Dom is the man so won't rule that out.
Any thoughts on the appeal of the current Daytona vs the Zenith movement version?
(Bear in mind its a keeper so it'll need servicing etc)

Personally I see a modular approach as not doing the job properly but horses for courses...
Sorry for the thread hijack - back to discussing Daytonas (I would still chose the El Primero movement...)
