Hi gang. Just had a new seiko delivered from Creation. Only thing is, the second hand seems to get stuck at either the 18 second, the 45 second, or the minute mark. Needs a firm tap and a good shake to get moving again, or even the knob being pulled out and the time changed slightly before it will kick in again. Does it need a good 24 hour wearing/charging to give it a good boost first? Or just get on to Creation for a replacement? (I realise they're just suppliers and not technically knowledgeable about them). I thought it was a reasonable reliable thing but it's a bit iffy straight out of the box.

TIA guys.

Thanks all. Unfortunately creation aren't being much help. My girlfriend bought the watch a week or so ago in preparation for my return to the UK on Saturday night, but didn't open or check it when it arrived. We've emailed creation but they now say that because the watch is used, they don't have to honour any sort of refund or replacement. I don't know how they class it as used, as it's sat on the side in the box unopened for a week.

Going to try explaining to them again but I expect them to dig their heels in. Which is a shame because it was a small gift to myself and has kind of left a nasty taste.

Thank you all. I'll get back to civilisation tomorrow and get on to them. Mike, that's very good of you.

Again, thanks. PHers to the rescue! smile

Just to resurrect this'un...

I sent the watch back, after filling in their return forms and jumping through their hoops.

I am STILL waiting for it's replacement... I've chased them via email this morning, and we shall see what their reply says. Which is a shame, because I kind of wanted it for my holiday, which is now been and gone.

It has tainted my Creation customer experience, for sure - I'm not sure if everyone else is just lucky, or very patient, or if I have used up all my karma in a previous life!

Maybe I won't buy my next watch, a vampire Monster, from them any more frown

Nope, straightforward debit card payment. It's only 110-odd quid so it's not bank-breaking, but it's something I've been looking forward to for about 4 months now! I think I'll just write it off, but would just like to let others know that they're maybe not as perfect as their online reputation would have you believe.

Now, where can I buy an SKX007 from that ISN'T Creation?

Further update:

The GF got peed off with waiting and sent them a bking email. (I told her just to forget it and chalk it up to a company of chancers).

A week later, this reply.

"Your watch has been sent to the service centre. The repair can take some time due to the backlog at the service centre and the delay in the manufacturer sending parts if needed. The service centre is at the mercy of the manufacturer for parts, and manufacturers can take months at times to send the parts due to production cycles. It will take anywhere between 6-12 weeks. We will try to expedite it and get back to you as soon as it is read."

So. Around 6 months in total to get a mass-produced, everyday watch provided which actually works.

Creation, hang your heads. That's pretty damn awful, IMO.

That is an awesome offer. Thank you ever so much - but I will, with the utmost gratitude and respect - decline it this time around. I've spoken to the GF and decided that they have 9 weeks and if nothing is heard or rec'd, then she will initiate charge back from the Visa company. If I/you/we start getting involved with sending them parts then they will have a robust defence against me/chargeback, I would imagine.

But still, thank you. That's really bloody decent of you to offer and I'm very grateful indeed. I'll send any future servicing your way! smile

(And people say to avoid the watch forum...?!)

Update - watch has been repaired and they are now looking at sending it back.

They're charging me for the repair though, which is pretty disappointing. But, 21quid inc delivery to get it back, I just want it in my hand really. Even if it doesn't work - it'll definitely be coming to you Variomatic. smile

Definitely not going to use Creation again. Left a very sour taste... My homecoming present to myself (a Vampire Monster, the 313?) will be coming from elsewhere!

Thanks Meatball, that's really interesting.

Variomatic, if it's still iffy when I get it back, I think I will use your services. After this much time, the money isn't really the issue, I'd just like a working watch on my wrist! smile
