Hi all,

Been mulling over this for a while now, I'm a lover of watches and am thinking of buying my first high ticket watch. As abit of background the most I usually spend is around £100, I have about 15 in my collection at the minute split between Quartz and autos.

Recently I've had a pay rise and am living comfortably and have some saving stashed away. I've been looking to get a decent watch and the main 3 I've come to are:

Omega Moon Watch
Tudor Pelagos
Rolex Sea dweller 16600

I know all 3 are different and are all at different price ranges but I just don't know what to go for, the rolex stands out as a good buy that will most likely hold value and as a bonus a fair few are about from my birth year. I should add I'd rather buy used from a good dealer as it seems to be the best way.

Any advice for a newby?

Alex

Correct it would be an original Pelagos. The new ones dial is not my cup of tea with the short story that's written on it!

Rolex being the clear winner then, what's the view on box and papers. Having both is the best way to ensure the value will be held? Without both would seem abit dodgy to me.

Found a few potential 16600 Sea Dwellers. Looking to be around the £4-4.5k mark, ideally wanting box and papers for peace of mind.

Good news! Have found a very nice 2003 model, admittedly not a birth year laugh But it is in fantastic condition and has all boxes and documentation. Enquired through Chrono24 and am speaking with the dealer currently.

Well some progress, after looking at a Speedy i couldn't get on with it. It just didn't seem right. The Pelagos was very nice but it didn't give me the same feeling as the Rolex. A deal is currently being finalised on an F series Sea Dweller full set!

Well the Rolex arrived this morning, very happy with it. In very good condition with all papers and box, picture in the wrist check thread!
