I haven't thought they look good since about 1988.

However, in the last couple of days I have seen two examples that have turned my head. One was a Rolex GMT II, the other a Datejust with white dial.

I am not about to go out and buy one, but I am wondering whether bi metal might start to look good again in the same way as white cars started to look good about 5 years ago after 20-years in the wilderness.

Thoughts?

Not for me, somehow I can't get past the 80's thing where old men wore them, or yuppie who hadn't made enough bonus to buy a full gold version
Oh I totally understand. That's why I have never been keen, but as I say for some reason a couple have looked good lately.

Odd that they only seem popular amongst Rolex owners/buyers. hehe
I have very fond memories of a lady who wore a bi metal Cartier.

I think getting a liking for a Bi-Metal watch is a sign of impending dementia...

Just saying... wink

Oddly, I find this one quite attractive...

I have had a GMT (stainless steel) for 15 years and for the last 10 I have been thinking about changing it for the only other watch I want, A bi metal Daytona with a black face.

I still ( after 10 years !!!) cant decide if I will automatically look like a second hand car salesman !!!

Had an amazing deal by watchfinder to change for a new bimetal but just couldn't bring myself to do it !!!

I still cant decide !!!!

You will regret selling the GMT. Arguably the most usable sports Rolex.

Actually a 1977 (wedding year) version I think still looks good, classic and with a white dial slightly different from the miriad of dodgy sunburst faced chinese versions LOL.
Nice. I like the white dial.

I was in a restaurant earlier today adjacent to three black fellas who were, apparently, used car dealers. By strange coincidence they not only shared a profession but a name - Bruv. And they referred to each other by name continuously and loudly.

Anyway, at least two of them were wearing bi-metal Rolex Daytonas which looked OK if a little clichéd given their line of work. One of them was wearing a full yellow gold model though, which looked better against black skin to be honest.

I'm still suffering with this odd obsession. I can see me buying a bi-metal Datejust before long. The only problem being, I had it in mind that bi-metal Rolexes fell off a cliff price-wise second hand. Seems I was wrong though - they are quiet expensive.

Could it be because the gold coloured metal is... gold? And gold is more expensive than stainless steel?
Not really. Bi-metal watches were fetching less money secondhand than steel. I think that applied to Rolex, I am not sure, but it certainly did with other brands.
