I have a relative who is visually impaired and who uses a talking watch. It's absolutely hideous, a proper monster of gold painted plastic, poor quality - but it talks.

I want to replace it with something nicer as a birthday gift, so I figured that there must be a smart watch that tells you the time. Does such a thing exist? Do any of the smart watches have a speaker and an app that tells you the time when you press a button or the screen?

I'd prefer ios compatibility as she uses an iPhone already so this would be nice, especially for notification purposes, but it's not mandatory.

Thanks for the input, but I was really looking for something that had a secondary use as a talking watch as opposed to the RNIB ones that aren't designed with aesthetics in mind.

For example, the iPhone is wonderful as it is a good phone with a lot of functionality, but it also works as a great magnifier and has other integrated accessibility features like narration. I'm wondering if there is a smartwatch or similar that has that same look instead of being designed for practicality only.

We did look at the Bradley watch but the preference was for a speaking watch as oppose to something tactile (which I still think is pretty cool).

Hi I did talk today to my grandson who has very little vision. He's smart with tech and competent with touch screens...He says the I watch has very similar functions as the I phone. It does have voice over so I expect it will tell the time audibly as well. We've been to the Princess street store a few times and found some assistants not vey knowledgable about audible side of watch. Did meet a young female assistant who had previous work with disabled but she worked in upstairs dept. Might be worth a visit to have a play and investigate. Good luck
Thanks. I went there today and none of the staff knew immediately but they were able to confirm that Voiceover on the Apple Watch is what I'm looking for.
