I currently own a few watches, nothing special unfortunately. I have just started to get into watches a couple years ago and would really like to buy myself a proper Swiss automatic watch. I have always wanted a Rolex and would love to own one some day. unfortunately i don't really have the money right now to buy one. So I am asking help from you guys.

I have a 3k budget i do not mind going over a few hundred though. From this i would like an automatic Swiss watch. I would ideally like one that would hold its value well. I will not be expecting it to be an investment definitely if buying new.
I would prefer new but i am open to preowned. I would probably wear the watch daily so i would like it to be able to take a bump or too.

Here are some i have my eye on at the moment:

Breitling Colt: I have tried this one in the white dial form and really liked it.

Omega Seamaster: I have heard alot about this watch being very good watch and holding its value quite well.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer: I liked this watch a lot until i tried the colt on but for half the price would it be better for my first watch?

Rolex Submariner: This is the watch i really want but new its nearly double my budget and preowned it is still out my price range. I know this would be the best place to put my money.

So in summary I really want the Rolex but cant really afford one right now. I really like the Breitling Colt for half the price but what would depreciation be like? Your opinions guys please.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess it makes perfect sense to save for what I really want not what I just like. Quick question would it be worth paying the extra for a Rolex sub with the date? Would it hold its value more being one with a date?

Thanks everyone for there input and opinions on what I should do. It seems like the right thing to do is to just save to buy the watch I want and not get the second best.

I will be saving up and keeping an eye out for a Rolex sub no date at the right price.
