Hi,

Hopefully this is the best place.

I bought a Breitling from an Authorised retailer in Barbados whilst on my honeymoon on 1/9/16 and noticed on the 7/9/16 that it had lost about an hour and 20 minutes over night (it just stopped working).
I had worn the watch everyday for atleast 10 hours a day since getting it and wore it for a couple more days after that to see if it was just one of those things.

It stopped working twice since then and have not worn it for 6 days now due to expecting to return it.
I have contacted Breitling who have been no help except offering to repair it and the retailer I bought it from have been taking ages to get back to me and completely avoiding the 'return for a refund' part of my emails.

I finally got this email earlier which wasn't what I was expecting and to be honest, I don't even understand it.

All I want is to return it and get a refund.

Dear Richard,

"I understand, but unfortunately we are unable to proceed with the refund according to terms & conditions signed and agreed at the moment of the purchase.

We have to follow up the policies provided by the watch companies, in this case Breitling, as we receive the watches in the same conditions that they sent it to all our stores, for sell.

You can always contact any authorized Breitling service center for further options."

What can I do??

Sadly not. Normally I would atleast put £100 on a c/c but I completely forgot.

Any help would be amazing.
Just received this email from DI.

"Dear Richard,

The terms & conditions are located at the back of the purchase receipt.

Please refer to the section about watch policy."

The T&C's state any issues with the watch must be dealt with through the watch manufacturer.
This is an absolute joke.

I didn't even get their T&C's until a good 15 minutes after actually paying for the bloody thing.

All I want to do is return it.

Really appreciate it.

So annoying that I spent a hell of alot of money on this watch as a treat and i'm getting absolutely nowhere with 2 big well known companies.

The problem is that I want a refund. I'm my experience, if something brand new is faulty then it won't be a good product.

I was wondering the same ... sounds like buyers remorse (via what could either be a real or manufactured 'fault')
Wow, that didn't take long for the first idiot to come along.

How would one 'manufacture a fault' specifically, stopping it from working??

If I was able to get a refund, I would've just bought another watch from another brand.

What does the law in Barbados say about refunds?

E: looks like you might have protection, are you now in the UK? http://www.commerce.gov.bb/Legislation/Documents/C...

Thanks for the advice. I've just done it but realise i'll probably need to do it in the morning as I won't be wearing it tonight.

I'll see how it gets on over the next couple of days and let you know.
The process that you posted, what is the reason for having to do that? (Very much uneducated with this sort of thing)

Thanks.
I'll see what happens when I put it on tomorrow morning after leaving it for the night and report back.
