Hi

I have a Rolex SS Sub date which I have owned for 6 years since new. It has never skipped a beat and has only been back to the jewellers for a free clean when it was 2 years old (which I have to say did make it nice and shiny).

I am aware that servicing is discussed for watches but my gut feeling is, if it isn't broken don't fix it - after all is a completely sealed unit and I am concerned that a service is likely to create more problems than it solves (a bit like going to the dentist for a check up....). Has anyone Rolex servicing experiences good, bad or indifferent? I live in Lancashire and bought the watch from Whittles in Preston.

Thanks, good feedback, I do wear mine all the time so it is probably worth having it serviced then for preventitive maintenance.

Cheers

I saw from your profile that you live in Lancashire, if you are anywhere near Bury, Leps have a Rolex techn. who takes about 5 weeks for a service, is a lot less expensive than the main dealers and did a good job on my Ebel recently.
Hi

Thanks, I will keep that on the radar. I actually live between Preston & Lancaster and bought the watch from Whittles so I guess I will speak to them first to see what they recommend. There is also Banks & Lyons in Lancaster who are a large Rolex dealer, I have not had any dealings with them yet but may as well give them a call.

As an aside, Banks & Lyon had almost every Rolex model in their window when I went by before Christmas, including Subs, Milgaus & Daytonas so I think waiting lists must soon be a thing of the past.

I am certainly no expert on who the players are in the watch servicing world but have to say I would not feel very comfortable sending my watch to a company on ebay!
