Railmaster or Navi 50th anniversary ?
Discussion
I wear my Sub everyday, and night. I'm trying to persuade myself (it's really tough) that I need a more 'leather strapped' type watch to add to my small collection, so I put it to the PH watch fraternity, ignoring the approximate £1k price difference.

Always loved the Railmaster due to family history, but seem to be drawn to the Navitimer 50th Anniversary too.

For me it would be the Navi, but then I prefer Breitlings. The Railmaster is completely at the opposite end of the scale, to me those sub dials don't seem right, far too small and almost like an after thought in the design.
Whilst I understand the comments about Breitling dials being busy, it's kind of the appeal to them, and the Navitimer is about as classic a design as you can get (for a Breitling).
I recently purchased this, and I personally think it's a beautiful watch, so maybe one of these as an alternative if you can find one? Semi perpetual requiring a date change every 4 years.

Looked at a few IWC options, love the Portugese chrono, but don't really want to stretch to Portugese prices at the moment. I considered a Pilot/Spitfire but it would always be my 2nd choice IWC. I'd rather wait until I can warrant spending the extra on the Portugese (or at least warrant it to Mrs MoJo) and add an IWC to the collection then.
You know what you've done now don't you !! I'm off to look at a 'pre-owned' Portugese

If I was going rail master how about the non-chrono version?
I agree, the Railmaster should be a clean watch, the chrono seems at odds with the design to me.I wouldn't want a silver or white dialed Navitimer either, personally. I agree with the first comment about the hands being lost. It's much less of an issue with the black (or blue) faced versions.
Of the two? If I didn't have a Cosmonaute, the Navitimer, but as I do, I'd get a simple 3-handed Railmaster
Whatever you choose, though, I'm sure you'll be happy On the other hand, WHY try and convince yourself you need to buy a watch? It sounds like you don't REALLY need or want either!

Between the two, I'd also go for the Railmaster, but neither fully works for me. The Breitling face is too frenetic, and Omega have IMO thrown the look out of balance by putting the arrow-head on the minute hand. The original Railmaster, with the arrow-head on the hour hand, looked much better I think.
