This forum has been partly responsible for my 'couple of watches' turning into a collection. I've always liked watches so my girlfriend bought me a watch box (made by 'Hillwood' - some lacquered polished wood job) that holds 6 watches, a good few years ago.

This box is now full and another 5 watches are sitting on top of the ones there. It's a mess. And I've got three more to add - one in Customs awaiting clearance, one in Switzerland being serviced, and another on the way from China.

Basically I need more storage for my collection! I'd prefer a box with the oval pads that I can put all the watches in, and easily pick and choose as necessary. I could just put the watches in the boxes they were bought with, but it's inconvenient. And a display case would be nice so I can admire them when I'm not wearing them smile

I'm not convinced at all of the benefits of 'watch winders' so does anyone have recommendations for decent watch storage boxes, preferably with a glass lid or some way of displaying them? I don't want to spend a fortune as I'd rather spend the money on watches.

TIA.

Many thanks - looks ideal for what I had in mind smile

As to the others - many thanks, but Rapport winders weren't really what I wanted - as I'm not sold on the benefits of winders and I'd rather not spend the money on something I don't really see the value of.

Just something simple and cheap. I've got a posh 6-watch box from my girlfriend - the plan is never to let the 'expensive' watch collection exceed 6 watches smile and then all my other 'affordables' can go in the big, cheaper box biggrin

So far this means the 'posh' box will be half full (Breguet, JLC reverso, IWC aquatimer) and I can move the rest into the bigger box. Or do I put the Speedy and the Sinn into the 'posh' box? They both cost less than a grand... decisions decisions... Equally, my christmas present from my girlfriend this year is one of the BHI tourbillons - less than £500 but *definitely* worthy of a place in the 'posh' box, don't you think? hehe

But even the cheapest (the two Swatches, one with the new ETA automatic mechanical, the other a Snowpass quartz) deserve respect and a proper spot in a watch box (as opposed to lying in a heap on top of the other watches) so I'll definitely get a bigger cheap-and-cheerful box.
