What watch for £50
Discussion
I've currently got several cheap digital watches and am after something a little bit nicer for Christmas.
Thing is the budget is only £50 so no gold-plated chronowotsits or fancy brands.
I am quite tempted by this Casio advertised in the Torygraph;

I'm sure someone here could do better I am thinking about a stainless steel analogue watch but am open to any other styles.

I got the Casio (which I'm pretty happy with ) but still got an itch for one of these Seiko 5...
I've seen a few on Fleabay but could you or anyone else recommend any seller in particular?
I just bought mine from one of the UK sellers for £69.99 as I wasn't sure about the taxes etc.
It arrived a few days ago (next day special delivery) ...
... but its been hidden before I could get my hands on it for my birthday later this month
Is this Seiko 5 going to be the equivelant of a Cheap as Chips Monster by all here on PH?

Hi, I'm back Seiko 5 is still great Mine runs a bit fast though? Gains about 5 minutes every couple of days. And I can't seem to adjust the day/week anymore either, but no matter
Anyway, my backup phone, a Samsung D900, doesn't seem to like SIM cards any more, so have been looking for some cheap phone to replace it with.
Why am I posting on here then?
Well because I saw THIS;

It's probably utter ste, but quite tempted to have a punt at it...
Few more below the £50 mark...

Well after nearly 3 years of regular use I think I've managed to lose my Seiko 5 So I'll be using the Casio* for a bit while I'll watch this thread with interest for Christmas ideas
* As the original torygraph link has expired, it was a Casio Wave ceptor WVA-106HU;
Still going strong on it's original battery...
ETA for actual pic

Cheapo silicone straps go saggy. Do it properly: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-LunaTik-LYNK-Multi...
Had enough of the cheapo silicone/placcy straps would be thinking the same, either metal, leather or possibly cloth like the Seiko 5.Cheapo silicone straps go saggy. Do it properly: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-LunaTik-LYNK-Multi...

mine has run great, i dont wear it often so it stops. but a few quick shakes and its back up and running.
Cheers guys. Cheeky eBay offer submitted and being considered. Shipping seems a bit steep to UK now at £17 though CharlesdeGaulle said:
Crikey, these things have come down in price.
I bought one a few years back, not this make or model, but with the same features, and it was very much more expensive than that. I thought it was great. The only thing to be aware of is that they chew batteries if you use the functions. Mine had 2 of them and (admittedly under heavy usage) the one that powered the functions other than time soon went flat.
But that looks a good deal to me.
Features wise it's probably a bit overkill, but as a sort-of replacement for my still missing Seiko 5 () I think it fills the bill - a military style watch with a fabric strap and within budget for Christmas I bought one a few years back, not this make or model, but with the same features, and it was very much more expensive than that. How long do the batteries last? Are they cheap/easy to replace?
It's a Seiko, and it's £50

Sadly not an automatic, and it's too similar to my current Casio so not for me.
A tad over budget, but do like the look of this, plus a ceramic strap....

You'd need a mahoosive wrist to pull that one off I reckon.
It's not that big actually...I was more impressive with the thickness of the manual (although it's because it's in a million languages; English, German, Chinese, Americanese etc.)
Impressed with this too, about £10 from Maplin, not as cheap n' nasty as it's price tag would suggest

I was after a cheapish new watch to use for everyday, so I ventured in here and found this thread. I ended up buying one of the venerable Seiko SNK809s from creation watches. Now, I'd been lead to expect that these can gain/lose up to 20s or so a day, and anything less than 10s/day was considered pretty good. Naturally curious about how good mine was, I synchronised it to atomic time a week ago and kept an eye on it.
After one week it has lost a total of 2 seconds. Which seems implausibly accurate for such an inexpensive mechanical watch...
Anyone else found this with a Seiko 5?
