On a two month old Rolex ladies Datejust which is gaining about 1 min per week, is there anything short of sending it back to Rolex that can be done? The owner doesn't want to be without it for the month or so it takes to send back to the factory.

Is this normal 'reliability' from such a premium brand?

Thanks!

I wear mine 24 hours day, every day - only taking off to wash the car e.t.c. I wonder if this helps with the accuracy of the watch scratchchin
Don't think so, as my partner has done the same since receiving it and its having this issue. Its the reason we went for Rolex as opposed to some of the other watchmakers, such as Jaeger Le Coutre, which was my favourite.

Thanks for the replies by the way. I guess we'll have to send it back...

1 minute a week is <10s a day, isn't it?
Yes, she reckons its actually slightly more than that as between Friday and Saturday it has gained around 15 seconds.

Anyways, I was all set to buy myself a Rolex too but this is putting me off, we'll see what the customer service is like.

We will take it back to WOS then, will let you know how it goes in a few months.

On the wearing constanly theory, she hasn't taken it off since it arrived, ever (not for sleep, not for sports, not for swimming, etc). In fact, we had wondered if that could be the reason for the excessive speed.

I'd like to know the outcome. I suspect they might laugh you out of the shop.

Have you thought of buying her a quartz watch?

Sorry. I was trying to suggest that it's an acceptable inaccuracy in my books. All the best getting the outcome you want, though.

I understand, sorry if my response was a bit too agressive.

I think 5 minutes per month is a bit much, thats an hour per year. Anyways, we'll see what response I get.
