Exhaust specialists nr st albans?
Discussion
I have a full s/s system on my mx5, half custom, half off the shelf.
I've never been overly happy with the position of the tailpipe (hangs low and off the bumper cutout, so i either need the rubber mounts replacing for shorter ones, or the hangers and existing setup tweaked a bit to tuck the backbox up.
Anyone know a decent indy exhaust place near snorbs which won't charge a fortune for an hours tweaking work?
cheers.

they are about 2 minutes from mine! i'll have to keep an eye out for your car...will let you know how this goes. I've had such varying service from exhaust places.
I originally called R-tec but the guy seemed a bit skeptical on the phone, i don't think rehanging an exhaust and doing a bit of bending should be too taxing really!

Well popped in there this morning.
All friendly enough on the face of it, but the main guy was very insistent on having a lot of piperwork cut out, backbox replacing etc etc... when all i want them to do is tweak the existing fitment, but they seemed more concerned with trying to fit me a whole new system from the midpipe....I was thinking more some shorter rubber hangers and maybe shortening the steel hangers on the backbox!!
I know business is business, but they weren't very willing to help out and were instead trying to push a new system on me.
Quality of work looks good enough on other cars, but i'll be climbing under mine with hose clamps for now.

The hose clamp, such a simple little thing, and yet it has come to my rescue again.
Hoseclamping around the last hanger rubber has lifted the tailpipe about an inch, whilst not perfect it was practically free, and should gain me vital clearance on speedbumps when the car gets lowered, it also looks a little less "hanging off" now, win

i have the feeling that had i been looking for a full system they would have been great, but every time i steered towards just altering the hangers and doing a bit of minimal tweaking the boss was a bit dismissive, i get the feeling they get busy in there and probably want to do the bigger jobs...which to a point i understand.
Pretty glad i took matters into my own hands for now, will check out poly mounts, sounds a little less ghetto than my current fix!
i believe Topgear are merging/being taken over by EMP exhausts judging by the website.
