We're heading up to Blyton in December for a track day I booked for the mister (bday), and wondered whether (if we could get booked in) Scampton would be worth a visit.

Anyone had a tour, and if so what sort of things and how much is there to see? Worth doing?

Thanks - I'd got the contact details and the need to book as it's not general admission, but was just wondering whether anyone else had been an what sort of things would be in the heritage centre really.

I'll email them and see if we can get a look round on our preferred date! Thanks!

Hmm, some food for thought - thanks all. We're travelling from Cambridgeshire, and Scampton wouldn't be able to accommodate us on a Saturday anyway, so will have a look at a couple of the others and see what I can arrange!

Except it's a Saturday and they'll be closed.

I'm guessing your going up and back in a day. If travelling along the A1 then Newark air museum is about 3min from the junction at newark. Saves a detour across to East Kirkby.
Hmm, you've possibly answered my next question - no possibility of an arranged trip on a Saturday then I guess. Not quite a day trip, we're heading up on the Saturday for a track day the next day and he's a bit of plane geek wink so wondered if there was something military and interesting en route....
