York railway museum

I am going to have a spare half day in York, is this a good place to visit?
I will be with my other half who has little interest in transport matters .

We went today and i found it extremely impressive and as many have said, it's well worth a visit;
so thanks for the recommendations.

Apart from the impact of the beautiful locomotives ( NO 'designers' involved )
I really enjoyed wondering through all the random stuff in the warehouse.

If I had any criticism it was that the locomotives looked over-restored and shiny looking,
I would have liked to have seen at least a few looking like the way many of them did whilst in everyday operation.

There's toddler stuff too - a model railway to watch, a play area, a few Thomas the tank engines to sit in,
and all the exhibits are unbreakable, there's NO DONT TOUCH THAT!

ETA even though it was extremely cold outside, it was surprisingly warm inside the halls.
