Just heard a rumour that the Americans are going to temporarily base 4 x B52's and 2 x B2's at Fairford from 25th May.

C5 arrived yesterday, and another on approach now.
Apparently the bombers are due Friday.
Rumours of up to 9 B52's and possibly B2's

(I'm told that) based on the fact that the C5's that visited over the last couple of days originated at Minot and Whiteman, it's highly likely that we will see B52's and B2's

Just to add, my old man has heard possibilities of B-1b's being deployed as well.

Now I've calmed down a bit...

Is that as well as or instead of either the B52/B2's?

I have seen B52's & the Stealth.

However a B1B.......

That's on my bucket list.
Seen it at Riat At least once, and also at Farnborough,in 82 although I think that might have been a B1.

How reliable?
I've just posted this, and the response was so arrogant I almost want to raid the piggy bank to pay for them to come if their not currently planned!

Rumour has it, something else is en-route. I'm not saying what it is, but it's not a B52 or a B1

Why the chute on landing? surely Fairfords runway is plenty long enough, even for a buff?
No idea, but certainly long enough (its was the European divert for the Space shuttle)

Popped down earlier, as said, one B2 rtb'd this morning, the other went tech. I got there about 4 and it was parked in front of the hangar with the engine running. Rumour has it they thought the issue was fixed, but after half an hour, they turned the engines off, and wheeled it back into the hangar

Not the best of pictures, but you get the idea. Now safely stored in the hangar behind.
