Handley Page Hermes 'Horus' crash in 1952
Discussion
Amazing what comes up over lunch with the in-laws. News to us all ! My MIL's uncle was 2nd Steward on the plane that crash landed 1300 miles off course in the Western Sahara after running out of fuel. All survived although the co-pilot died a few days later. Found lots about the story on the web but can't find details of a Discovery programme that covered the story. Anyone help ? Sounds like a less dramatic version of 'The Flight of The Phoenix'.

Yes - it was. We are just trying to identify him from the photo. Apparently, after the trauma of surviving the crash the stewards did what any self-respecting Brit would do - made a brew for the passengers.
