Now that summer's finally arrived, I feel the need to make fire and prod meat with a stick.

So, BBQ dishes please. lick

To consist of a main dish plus an accompaniment, eg. a sauce, slaw, salad, or salsa. Or something else.

The usual rules apply: two weekends to cook, maximum of three pictures showing ingredients, prep/cooking and the final dish.

Entry closes at 12 noon on 10th October - good luck! biggrin

So today i had a day off, and albeit it wasnt particularly warm, it wasnt raining...so it allowed me to do a second entry (is that even allowed?? either way i've done another one!)

Started off having a nose through some recipe books

Surely i win points for involving the kittens?

Decided on
Persian Chicken Kebabs & Mint and Pomegranate Raita with a basic salad of red pepper, spinach, mint, and spring onions

Once again forgot to take some ingredient pictures or indeed progress!

But..

Need to buy a new camera rather than using a ropey old Iphone!
You could have bought all that from M&S and whacked it in the mic!

Well done on the kittens though...

(Grrrr.)

Both were very nice...but steak on the BBQ is pure decadence over the usual burgers and sausages!

Both were very very tasty...think I'll focus more on presentation next time!
Both look good too, however which one is your 'official' entry?

13 entries! clap

Therefore I'll need to post two polls. Bear with me - it's been rather hectic today.

These are my photos and instructions
First dig a pit bigger than what youre going to cook. Mum says fish like trout or salmon is really good to cook.

put some rocks and bricks in it and build a fire with logs and we used some charcoal too to be quicker. Logs take a long time to burn down

Put your food in foil and in the pit on a foil tray over the fire put more foil over that then fill over with the earth

It takes a few hours to cook and is hot when you dig it up.

Mum says it is based on a Hawaiian Luau

for my beans I put brown sauce in to make them a bbq flavour.

It was good fun
