PistonHeads Cooking Competition #30. ONE POT MEALS!
Discussion
Right all, inspired as I was by Ffuxake's pan of Scouse in the previous competition, the next theme will be 'One pot' dishes.
No one likes washing up and we're still in the depths of winter needing comfort food.
So, the rule is that your dish must have been cooked in one pot. You can plate it up with a dollop of mash, a pile of rice, pasta, chunks of bread whatever, but the main part of the dish must have been cooked within it's own sauce and fellow ingredients in one pot.
Casserole/Curry/Stew/Goulash whatever, get out your slow cooker or big pan. The real challenge given we can't taste the final dish will be to capture imagination with your interesting ideas and ingredients and make it look the most alluring. From Pixel Snapper's previous rules:
THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS
*One entry per person, must be cooked within competition time frame.
*No more than 3 photos to be entered unless stated by the theme setter.
*Food must be prepare by yourself as much as possible IE not putting a pre packed goat curry in the microwave.
*The competition will run until the last Sunday of the month (24th Feb), once the new theme has be set by the last winner.
*The poll will commence asap preferably the Monday and voting will last for a week.
*We'll try to sort a workable poll system during the course of the competition.
Post your entries here.

I have some questions...
Can we brown the meat first?
I've spoken with our legal team. Their interpretation of case law pertinent to this enquiry suggests that browning of meat would be seen as a preparatory step rather than cooking and as such the death penalty would not apply. Can we brown the meat first?

First time entering the competition for me. Do the polls generally favour more comfort food or fine dining?
Braised Oxtail with Cinnamon & Star Anise
Looks amazing. Great first entry.Braised Oxtail with Cinnamon & Star Anise
In answer to your question the polls tend to favour the dish that the majority would pick from the menu. That can mean simple comfort food or something more involved. Decent photos and clean presentation like yours certainly helps to feed the eyes.

Thanks to Pixel Snapper for setting up the poll, should have been my job really as previous winner. It's quite a lot of work to set it all up.
Miffed that I couldn't enter the comp this time. Had 3 weeks worth of Bronchitis and in the midst of this my back went in protest too...
I was planning on doing a big meaty paella...
All the best to those who have cooked up such tasty looking entries.
