Microwave burgers etc, and other things you shouldnt like...
Discussion
I had no breakfast this morning, its now brunch time and I'm presently eating a feasters BBQ ribsteak sandwich. A microwave burger, no less.
The back of the packaging advises, for an 800w microwave:
Clearly the food of the upper echelons of society then, people so privileged they aren't used to buying it, let alone knowing how to heat it
Its hot. Tastes tastier than many cold shop bought sandwiches. I like it, enough to buy another.
Down with fastidious selection!
We want micro-garbage!
Don't leave me standing alone here chaps, or I shall be forced to run away! There are surely a couple of nasties you really shouldn't enjoy, but actually do. What are they:

I am in Holland at the moment and their snack bars are the stuff of dreams. Everything is fried, everything is damn tasty, everything with mayo and curry sauce.
Hell yeah.
You're just trying to make the food pedants on PH jealous Hell yeah.

I like Rustlers, nuked to oblivion!
Particularly at 3am when I'm no longer able to stand up straight and all 'Bab shops are closed.
Haven't tried the new wraps and subs range yet. Any good?
Not tried them... yet! Rustlers are definitely the kings of the microwavable burger world. Whether they should be proud of that or not, I don't know, but they certainly have a following Particularly at 3am when I'm no longer able to stand up straight and all 'Bab shops are closed.

I always toast the bun slightly, cook the burger in the microwave.. Stick the cheese on the boiling hot burger from the microwave, bun together.. Squash. Job done.
Haven't had one in ages though
The only thing I do differently is add a bit of lettuce. I normally like my burger buns toasted, but there is something satisfying about a microwaved burger, bread and all, so that the finished product feels like a hot floppy edible dish cloth covered in melted cheese in your mouth.Haven't had one in ages though
As you havent had one in a while, I'll have another for you
Heres my second one, with the bonnet up.
Never have bits of microwaved horse stuck in my teeth tasted so good!
(I suspect the trick to getting away with these threads is posting before lunch time)

absolutely adore rustlers,
pro tip: Aldi sells hotdogs/burgers(chicken,beef)/wraps/bbq rib sandwitches all microwavable in the same style as Rustlers but at 65p each! absolute bargain.
Rustlers have a shelf life of over 3 weeks.pro tip: Aldi sells hotdogs/burgers(chicken,beef)/wraps/bbq rib sandwitches all microwavable in the same style as Rustlers but at 65p each! absolute bargain.
Bookers will knock them down to silly sub-50p prices on their expiry day. Buy an armful, they at good to eat several days beyond their "use by" date. Its not as if food with a 3 week shelf life turns deadly on its last day, there is a very big margin for error.
So yes, yes I do feel smug, buying my rustlers for less than your Aldi burgers

I get quite a slagging off for it, but I rather like an instant mash called MrMash. It's fine as long as you add the usuall butter, milk, salt & pepper. Not a fan of the SMASH mash, not sure what it is about it.
Also these.
Use them in stir frys and sometimes have it as part of a fried egg sandwhich.

Are those the microwave ones at about a quid a pack (in 1990's prices)? If so they dashed the hopes and dreams of my student house... and were probably the only 'babs to be brought into the place and end up in the bin.430T said:

After a conversation in the office this morning, I've found out that they still make McCain Micro Chips. I want to find these and try them out again .
These are excellent Also, Fries To Go are very very nice with melted Dairylea poured over them
The Nutella and marmite is a bit like an invitation to kiss a hens bottom, but credit to simes for trying/enjoying it.
As regards toasties, I went back to pan frying this year. Harder to get them perfectly perfect every time but somehow more rewarding.
