And so a new year starts and I have the honour of kicking off the cooking competition. With a nod to seasonality, the theme for this round is: GAME ON

The main component of your dish must be seasonal game, wildfowl or deer. So pheasant, partridge, rabbit, duck, goose, venison, take your pick and get roasting, frying or pie-ing.

Bonus marks (in my eyes) awarded for a nice image of a hearty seasonal dish you'd like to come home to after a hard days shooting.

Best of luck everyone, let's recover from the lethargy of the holidays and see a good compliment of entries.

GAME ON!

  • THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS*
1, No more than 3 photos to be entered unless stated by the theme setter.
2, Food must be prepare by yourself as much as possible IE not putting a goat curry in the microwave.
3, The competition will run from Saturday 18th January to Sunday 2nd February.
4, Voting will commence Monday 3rd February for a week.

Edit: extended the comp an extra week.

Happy to let it run longer if that's what people want, it's just that if it gets to February PH pedants might start saying we're out of the game season.smile

I'll extend the comp one week to give everyone an extra weekend to play with.

I say we let this run till Sunday 23rd of Feb with voting the following week?
A whole extra MONTH??
That would be well out of game season though which would kind of defeat the object of the comp confused

Does it not freeze?

I know that's cheating somewhat, but...
Yes it freezes. It's not cheating at all. smile

What, and run the risk of winning and being saddled with the hassle of creating another competition that no one gives a fudge about? No thanks. frown

Not really "running". More limping along like a three legged dog looking to be put out of its misery.

As one of the only two posters that could be bothered to post an entry in the 'Game on' comp - I hope you get more entries for your new comps with subjects that have more appeal to 'Urban England'.

I'm not hacked off - but you do have insensibilities to Matt that devised the game cooking comp and TeeRev and I that made the effort to compete. A bit of imagination on your part and there could have been various rugby/football suppers!

eta even table tennis, golf suppers etc...
