The Husband and I will be in Dublin for a few days in September, and neither of us have been before. We're keen on good food and going out for a few drinks, and I'm wondering if there are any particular places you PHers would specifically recommend.

We're staying in the city centre so it's easy enough to walk everywhere. The main issue food-wise is that I'm coeliac so have to avoid gluten, but other than that I'll eat anything and probably love it. In terms of pubs/bars, we like places with a good atmosphere, but tend to get a bit annoyed if it's completely rammed and too loud to hear yourself think.

We're pretty open about what sort of things we like to eat/drink (although it has to be good) and see, so any recommendations of places you've enjoyed would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

The Palace bar on fleet street is my favourite watering hole in Dublin, cracking pint of Guinness. Bowe's is also very good.

I wouldn't spend too much time in temple bar, its a right hole of a place in the early hours and drinks prices are outrageous.
Yeah I've heard that about temple bar... We will definitely check out The Palace and Bowe's then.
