I've really got into gin & tonics over the last 3 years after the father in law getting me on it on an all inclusive holiday in Cyprus. So in that time I've only really stuck to the Hendricks, Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray and Gordons, but back in february on a 6 Nations Rugby jaunt to Endinburgh I tasted a German gin called Monkey 47 and it was absolutely fantastic, the nicest one I've tasted so far!!

So show me your Gin or recommend me one I can buy!

At the moment my collection is restricted to Bombay Sapphire, Hendricks and Tanqueray as its quite difficult to get anything other than the main stream stuff out here.

The Monkey 47 is lovely, with Fevertree!

But Hendricks is the staple of my collection at the moment!

Looking forward to some family coming over to visit as a prerequisite is that they bring a bottle of nice Gin....Should boost the collection a bit biggrin

I opened the bottle of Botanist last night, genuinely felt disappointed after some of the reviews of it here. Still yet to taste a gin that is nicer than Monkey 47.

I picked up a bottled of Bulldog a few months back in duty free and you're right, I wasn't expecting much from the tacky looking bottle but it really is a decent gin. I think I got 1ltr bottle for eighteen quid. I actually prefer that to the bottle of The Botanist I've currently got going.

Thank you tuffer, I shall give that a go.

Incidentally, where do you chaps source some of these harder to get gins? I was after a bottle of Monkey 47 so got talking to the owner of a specialist shop (admittedly his expertise was in whisky but did have a selection of gins) near me. He said he used to stock it but alas no longer. He said it wasn't popular and the cost for only 50cl was prohibitive. He did recommend the Cotswolds gin so it was rude not to. Haven't tried it yet mind.
I can buy mine local for around 50 quid but buying rarer stuff you can't get in the shops you'd be better just buying it online. I know Amazon sell Monkey 47......I've still yet to taste/find a better gin.
