The American version I mean. I drink it and am getting sick and tired of people taking the piss out of me for it. I’m not a chav and am mainly a wine drinker. The main reason I drink it is because you can never get any decent wines in pubs. I know it’s not a craft beer but I find most lagers too sour and prefer the sweet taste of Budweiser (and other American beers such as Miller and Coors for that matter). I don’t like ales and find most craft beers and Belgian style beers too dark or heavy (I work in Brussels so have all sorts of Belgian beer available down my local). I’ve never much looked into the details of why American beers have this sweet taste and European beers not.

As far as strength goes it 5% so it’s not particularly weak. I know alcoholic strength is never a valid measure of the quality of any drink but, when you hear comments like piss water and ladies beer you do wonder why people say that about a 5% beer.

It seems to me there’s more snobbery about beer these days than there used to be with wine. I have friends and acquaintances that wax lyrical all night about the various merits of all sorts of obscure beers, all of which taste like ditch water to me, and then take the piss out of me for drinking Budweiser. I would like to see them doing a blind tasting a bit like the Americans did with Californian and French red wines a few years back with a bunch of French wine experts and see what comes out on top.

P.S. No I’m not an American, I'm British. Is it just me or are we seeing a new breed of craft beer fascists? smile

I remember noticing that Bud' in the US has even lessflavour then the UK/Euro brew.

OP, so you like crap beer. Some people like crap cars. You're a grown man, why do you care?
I've been putting up with it for years and will continue to do so. However, I don't see why Budweiser should be singled out over Heineken, Becks or Carlsberg none of which seem to attract the same negative reaction.

Keeping it PH I like Italian cars and drive an Alfa Romeo and am always getting the mickey taken out of me by my BMW and Audi driving mates about their reliability even though my Alfas have been no worse than their cars on the reliability front. I guess it's the same sort of thing smile
