Has anyone got experience with using a gas griddle instead of a BBQ ?

For family (of 6) BBQ involving mostly sausages and burgers I don't have the time / inclination to use charcoal and my old gas BBQ is past it, with fat spitting onto the lava rock meaning we get lots of flames and consequently burnt food - I quite fancy trying a griddle - must be easier to clean too.

I'm unsure whether to get a full blown commercial stainless one or whether a little Cadac safari or similar will do the job.

Get a couple of griddle plates and use the old Gas Grill.
That was my first thought.
Don't go using common sense - I wanted a new shiny thing !

But yes I think that's probably the best idea.
