We're off to Cuba in a few weeks, and although it's all-inclusive I'm hoping to bring back some rum either from the resort shop or some day trips out.

Now, I'm no expert on rum but I know what I like and don't like. The best I've tried is an El Dorado 15yr old, my daily snifter with coke is Appleton Estate, and the best dark I've had is Gosling's Black Seal but I've never tried a Cuban rum before.

Any recommendations that I should look out for?

Whilst on the subject of Cuba, cigar recommendations wouldn't go amiss either thumbup

You've never had Havana Club?
hehe

Actually, yes I have now you mention it. Once, in a bar on Paxos when they ran out of Pampero (another favourite of mine). I found it unremarkable to be fair. Although I'm sure a £250 bottle of Havana Club will be pretty special.

Well, that sounds a bit more palatable price-wise, especially after reading the tasting notes on the WhiskyCorner website

I'm liking the sound of that Santiago as well!
