Putting butter in coffee...

Waking yesterday from a drink induced haze on Friday night I was sure that I'd seen someone on the telly putting butter in their coffee. My immediate thoughts were that this was a little wrong, but given the involvement of alcohol I wasn't too sure if I'd imagined it.

Now my hangover has abated and I have a few minutes to kill, the internet tells me that people do indeed do this. Before I put these people in the box labelled "mentalist" and file it away for ever, has anyone ever tried this - importantly a) why, and b) the result.

Before anyone asks, I possess the relevant ingredients to try this but have no intention of doing so.

My "research" turned up a site from a person weirdo who adds random things to his coffee. For example bacon, blue cheese and bananas. www.puttingweirdthingsincoffee.com I can't imagine how dull his life is to get that bored...
