Myself and Mrs Black Sport 160 are going to be staying just outside Birmingham next weekend.

As a pair of real curry heads, we're intending to head to Sparkbrook one evening and eat in one of the Balti Houses.

Any recommendations as to the best?

To be honest not some where I would want too be parking my car anywhere in Sparkbrook or infact walking around there at all on the night time
Not taking the Lotus....we'll be in the Aygo (nice & anonymous biggrin). Should manage to grab a parking spot very close to the eatery as we like to eat late in the evening.

I can reccomend Lasan Eatery (its the same as Lasan that was on that Gordon Ramsey programe) thats in Hall Green area just up the Road
They were very impressive on Gordon Ramsay. The menu on their website looks good too, and reasonably priced. May try there on Saturday, and a more 'traditional' Balti House on Sunday....like I say, we're curry addicts!

Depending where you staying around Birmingham if you are anywhere near Solihull
Other side, we'll be at Moor Hall Hotel just outside Sutton Coldfield. Don't mind in the slightest travelling for good food, though.

Probably be checking out a pub or two near Birmingham City Centre both evenings....some really good places listed in the Good Beer Guide.

Cheers!

Standards have slipped down there a little of late, but if you check out Birmingham Plus and search by restaurant type, you'll be able to take a look through recent reviews of some great places (and some less great!) which might help you pick.
Ta!

They have a useful link to the Balti Birmingham website, some good reviews on there.

Just saw the other 'Birmingham Curry' thread and remembered I never replied to the suggestions!

Only had curry one evening - first night the wife wanted to eat bland food in the hotel restaurant frown.

We ended up going to Lasan Eatery. Nice meal, although on balance we still prefer Tayabbs in London - we're used to the really strong, fiery tastes of Punjabi cuisine. Whereas I think Lasan is owned by Bangladeshis.

Alfrash seems to get good reviews. May try that one when next in Birmingham.
